Alnea Farahbella, the designer of Toit Volant, is a dressmaker, a fashion designer, a pattern-maker, a sewer and a woman in love with fashion. Founded in 2013, Toit Volant is dedicated to being personal and intimate craft of dress making without the luxury price tag. They pride themselves on engaging with the makers along with the woman wearing their perfectly minimal and sensual designs. I would love this label for that alone, but love them more because they share my sensibility about investing moderately in product consumption made of high quality materials designed to last a very very long time.
Covetable...Base Range
Based in Denmark and France, and founded in 2012, Baserange is a line of sustainable under and easy wear. The effortless and wearable collection favors a philosophy of clean, easy and accessible garments that exist somewhere between modern culture and the natural world. Working only with high quality, organic fabrics in innovative ways they are a company committed to minimizing environmental impact. Their modern basics are sop well made they will last a life time.
Covetable... MHL
Since this has been one of the rainiest and coldest springs I can remember, I have been more obsessed than usual with finding the perfect coat. This MHL makes the most versatile and amazing coats that are water resistant with removable quilted liners making this beauty a three season wonder.
Covetable ... Creatures of Comfort
Since Jade Lai opened Creatures of Comfort in on Mulberry Street in New York City in 2010, it has been the go to destination for all things simple and stylish, with an emphasis on ease over fuss. The brand launched their first collection for the Fall Winter 2010 season. Noted for collapsing everyday "luxurious materials and a reductively chic approach to modern dressing", the label has continued to expand upon its core tenets with new collections that have inspired a generation to embrace minimal modernism.
Loving... Building Block
Since 2011, LA based, Building Block has redefined minimalism for a generation committed to a lack of excess in the world. Founded by sisters Nancy and Kimberly Wu after leaving their days jobs as a concept cars designer for Honda and shoe designer for Nike, Building Block took up residence in LA quickly attaining cult status. Conceived as a "considered accessory" brand, every piece in their growing collection boasts gorgeous leathers sans hardware with unique closures. I have been toting (and loving) their Stencil bag for nearly as long as the brand has been around, but it is their Rucksack - the perfect elevated back pack that is my constant companion whenever I am in the city. Their Bucket (seen above) is next on my list.
Loving... Hope
HOPE is one of my favorite Swedish fashion brands distinguished by a passion for high-quality garments that inspire individual style. Founded in 2001 by Ann Ringstrand and Stefan Söderberg HOPE’s design aesthetic is honest and direct, with an uncompromising attitude towards craftsmanship. Their collections deliver on the need for unfussy functional garments, seasonal must-haves and elevated basics.
