There are few places more beautiful this time of year than New England. Western Massachusetts is my home away from home, replete with beautiful farms, long barns, gorgeous vistas, and sugar shacks. Home to artists, musicians and intellectuals of every stripe, I never quite feel so quiet and at ease as when I am walking along country roads taking in the last gasps of color before a long winter.
I just love Susanne Kaufmann's complete travel set of body products! This genius collection not only meets all of the TSA carry-on standards they are stored in a sweet transparent pouch. Made in Austria these lightly scented products are suitable for all skin types (hooray!) the set includes shampoo, body lotion, bath oil, hand lotion, and leg and vein spray (perfect for after flight!).
Sedona earned its nickname “Little Hollywood” as the prime filming location for golden age Westerns starring the likes of John Wayne, Hedy Lamarr, and Joan Crawford. Today the city remains a hub of culture, clean eating, outdoor adventure, spiritual healing, golf retreats, wineries, and specialty shopping. I love it becuase it is so gosh darned gorgeous.
Three-and-a-half hours north of Los Angeles, the Happiest City in America is tucked away on California’s Central Coast, with sprawling Pacific coastline to the south and rolling green hills to the north. This eclectic town, with a population just under 50,000, is made up of a variation of folks, including long-time locals, families, retirees, young professionals and Cal Poly SLO and Cuesta college students. Pack your hiking shoes, bathing suit, jeans and jacket (it gets chilly at night!) and grab some friends to experience the beauty of the Central Coast.
As we all head off to the July 4th holiday (beach, lake, mountain, dessert...), I thought I would share a lesser known island location that has been on my must-go list for quite sometime. Located on the coast of Queensland, Australia, this cluster of 74 islands forms part of the Great Barrier Reef. Known for pristine beaches and incredible coral reefs for snorkeling and diving, the majority of the islands in this region are designated national parks in an effort to help preserve and protect the area from the over half a million tourists who visit the annually.
I’ve long been in love with the powerful and majestic beauty of Scotland. There is nothing that can compare with the towering castle that appears straight off a rocky bluff, or the sight of fog rolling through the Highlands. The ancient city of Edinburgh lies in the south of the country, alongside the Firth of Forth. A city that welcomes travelers of every stripe with open arms, it boasts a rich cultural scene, gorgeous food, and is chock full of history and beauty. Go in the summer for the arts festivals, but consider a stay in the fall when most of the tourists leave and you are left with a real sense of the locals' fair city.
